Immigration Appeal Trends and Projections

Note: All numbers have been rounded to the nearest multiple of 500.

  • The Y axis (vertical) represents the number of appeals in increments of 2,000 ranging from 0 to 12,000.
  • The X axis (horizontal) represents five fiscal years grouped into three sections:
    • 2014-15: Past;
    • 2015-16: Forecast;
    • 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19: Planned.

Each fiscal year consists of two columns:

  • the first represents the number of appeals filed; and
  • the second represents the number of appeals finalized and stayed.

For the fiscal year 2014-15;

  • a total of 5,500 appeals were filed; and
  • a total of 6,000 appeals were finalized and 500 appeals were stayed, for a total of 6,500 appeals finalized.

For fiscal year 2015-16:

  • a total of 5,500 appeals are forecast to be filed; and
  • a total of 6,500 appeals are forecast to be finalized and 500 appeals are forecast to be stayed, for a total of 7,000 appeals finalized.

For fiscal year 2016-17:

  • a total of 6,000 appeals are planned to be filed; and
  • a total of 6,500 appeals are planned to be finalized and 500 appeals are planned to be stayed, for a total of 7,000 appeals finalized.

For fiscal year 2017-18:

  • a total of 6,000 appeals are planned to be filed; and
  • a total of 6,500 appeals are planned to be finalized and 500 appeals are planned to be stayed, for a total of 7,000 appeals finalized.

For fiscal year 2018-19:

  • a total of 6,000 appeals are planned to be filed; and
  • a total of 6,500 appeals are planned to be finalized and 500 appeals are planned to be stayed, for a total of 7,000 appeals finalized.
